Know about the work-life balance of CyberTech

Working for a Japanese company gives you the experience of working with Japanese clients and other Japanese employees. You can learn about Japanese culture and language. Every morning when arriving at work, we start our day by saying “Ohayougozaimasu” (Good morning) and when leaving the office, we say “otsukaresamadesu” (thank you for your good work). Japanese culture is naturally incorporated into our daily lives. You can learn Japanese vocabulary while talking with several Japanese people on the staff and with a little self-study, you can eventually learn Japanese language as well. Most of our clients are Japanese companies, so you can also familiarize yourself with Japanese characters such as hiragana, katakana and kanji while working on Japanese projects. Our head office is located in Shibuya, Tokyo. If the opportunity arises, you may even be able to work in Japan!

The difference between a Japanese company with other companies is that we consider our work place a second home. You can feel a more relaxed environment while working. The managers and seniors are very approachable so you won’t hesitate to ask questions about something you don’t know. You can also work with Tokyo office team and communicate through Skype. You can even talk to them about trivial stuff like anime and games, about Japan in general and any random topics. If you have a chance to visit Japan, you can ask the Japanese employees for advice on what places to visit, which train routes to take and what foods to try.

Japan is known for anime and manga due to its unique storytelling, high quality animation and cultural appeal. One Piece, Naruto/Boruto, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy Family and Attack on Titan are a few of the popular anime these days. Anime is created by Japanese people with Japanese experiences and habits. Japan is also considered one of the most influential in video gaming. If you’re an “otaku” (someone interested in anime, manga and video games), you would want to be around these people. Like the saying goes “Birds with the same feather flock together.” It is best to work with people with the same interests, both in work and hobbies.

CyberTech is culturally diverse. We respect every culture and we don’t always push Japanese culture to Filipino employees. Japanese employees at CyberTech are also learning Philippine culture and language, specifically, Cebuano. You can occassionally hear some Japanese managers saying “sana all” (a very popular catch phrase in the Philippines) and “sige!” (okay) or “tara!” (let’s go!). They even learned the word “marites” which is a commonly used word in the Philippines for “chismosa/o” or “blabbermouth”. Santo Niño, an official patron of Cebu, is displayed in Tokyo office for good luck. Japanese employees are also learning English so they can communicate with Filipino employees. Filipino and Japanese employees at CyberTech embraced both cultures which creates a better connection especially when working together on a project.
